Arte Para Todos announces funding results of first annual festival

Arte Para Todos certainly packed a ton of impressive numbers in the art and music festival’s inaugural year. The three-day long festival spanned 18 venues across three neighborhoods – Bay View, Riverwest and East Side – featuring 70 local bands and 20 visual artists. Today, however, the festival announced its most impressive number yet.

This morning, Arte Para Todos announced that it raised $21,165, 100 percent of which will be split evenly between three chosen schools: MPS’ Bay View High School and Escuela Fratney in Riverwest, and Tamarack Waldorf High School in Harambee.

The festival was founded in order to respond to the increasing defunding of art and music education in schools. As its official website notes, “Arte Para Todos is based on the idea that culture is an act of will, and that if we want a healthy, vibrant city where the arts can flourish then we have to act on that desire.”

Here’s to an encore performance next year, and for many years to come.
